Kimbo Slice

Mixed Martial Arts fighter Kevin Ferguson, better known as Kimbo Slice, has died in a Florida hospital at the age of 42. He was part of American Top Team where he has previously been trained and the same team broke the news of his death. Kimbo Slice was a Bahamian-born American mixed martial artist and a boxer. He has also occasionally appeared in a number of movies.

“We are all shocked and saddened by the devastating and untimely loss of Kimbo Slice, a beloved member of the Bellator family,” Coker said in a statement. “One of the most popular MMA fighters ever, Kimbo was a charismatic, larger-than-life personality that transcended the sport..

“Outside of the cage he was a friendly, gentle giant and a devoted family man,” Coker continued. “His loss leaves us all with extremely heavy hearts, and our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Ferguson family and all of Kimbo’s friends, fans, and teammates.”

Kimbo Slice first gained fame for his legendary success as a street brawler, taking on all comers — for a price — in unsanctioned, relatively informal fights that went viral as online videos. He had also appeared in movies like Blood and Bone, The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption, Locked Down and Circle of Pain among others.

He was admitted to a hospital in Coral Springs, Florida. The cause of death is still unknown.
